Group 1 was won by Scottish International Susan Collins with four wins and a draw from her five games,but then there were three players all tied with two wins and two draws.Scottish International and Singles Champion Pauline Hay grabbed second place by the odd frame over two newcomers to the tour this season Grace Thain and Gwen Telfer.

Group 2 was won in very impressive style by another newcomer to the tour this season,Laura Mackay, with six wins out of six.Scottish International Karin Burt was second,dropping only six frames out of thirty in the process and fellow Scottish International Debby Greig was placed third with four wins.That left just one place up for grabs,and it was a close fought contest between yet another two newcomers to the tour this season,Alison McKenzie and Maria McCallion,with Alison just scraping through by winning the final match in the group 3 -2.

In quarter final 1 Susan Collins (Elgin) used her experience to ease past Alison McKenzie (Buckie) 4 – 0.Quarter final 2 was much closer,with Laura Mackay (Buckie) going 2 – 0 up before Gwen Telfer (Portknockie) pulled level.Frames were shared after that with Gwen just shading the match 4 – 3.Quarter final 3 saw another International,Karin Burt (Rothienorman),using her experience to ease out newcomer Grace Thain (Portknockie) 4 – 0.Quarter final 4 saw two internationals up against each other with Pauline Hay (Aberdeen) dropping only one frame against Debby Greig (Elgin) to win 4 – 1.

The first semi final was rather one sided,with Susan going 3 – 0 up over Gwen in rapid succession,then 4 – 1,finally winning 5 – 2.The second semi was closer than the scoreline suggests,with both players potting well and playing some good safety,but Karin ran out a 5 – 1 winner over Pauline.

So on to the final.The first two frames were shared and then Susan went into overdrive winning the next three to go 4 – 1 up.She soon had visions of Deja-vu as Karin pulled back to 4 – 3,but Susan rallied to win the eighth and tenth frames to finish winner at 6 – 4,for her first tour victory.
