Susan "Sweeties" Collins remains unbeaten this season as she closes the gap on Karin Burt after winning the Scottish Ladies Singles.
Susan got off to a difficult start winning 6-4 against former Scotland Internationalist Debby Greig in her first group game. This got Susan into her stride as she took on Audrey Beckett in her second match, Beckett who had lost 4-2 to Collins in the previous tour clash between the two, could do little to stop Collins as Collins ran out a 6-2 victor.
Karin "Sonic" Burt was the opposite of Collins coming flying out of the blocks against World Masters qualifier Julia Schreiwer winning 6-0. Her second game was a lot tighter against fellow Scotland Internationalist Emma Raeburn, in which she got over the line at 6-3.
The semi finals were carbon cutouts of each other as Collins and Burt shifted up another gear both winning 7-2, Collins against Emma Raeburn who had given Collins a scare in the semi final or Tour Event 2, where Collins had eventually came out a 8-6 winner. Audrey Beckett was Burts opponent in what also seemed like déjà vu from the Tour Event 2 semi final, in which Burt had also come out on top.
The final line up was a familiar one with Collins facing Burt for the third time this season. Collins had edged the previous two encounters 7-6 in Tour Event 1 and 5-3 the last time they faced each other in Tour Event 2. Collins ran into a 7-2 lead, which Burt clawed back at one frame at a time. At 7-6 Collins showed a mixture of experience talent and great composure to win her 8th frame of the final and with it give Collins her first major Scottish Title in the Form of the Scottish Ladies Singles.
