The SEPF Border Tour broke off in fine style holding its first ever tour event sponsored by the Blue Bell Hotel in Lockerbie. A great day was had by all the players who travelled from all across the Borders and Dumfries & Galloway to take part. The high standard of play throughout the day made for many close matches. Highlights included a tactical marathon match between canny veteran players Jim McGregor (Doonhamer League) and Stan Thomson (The Border League) with Jim emerging the winner 4 frames to 3. The Father and son battle between Mike and Martin MacDonald (Lockerbie League) and Cousins Russ and Robbie McKenzie (Springfield League) heightened the tension. Poor Kevin McKay was kicking himself at missing a pressure black ball after some great play to lose against the hotly tipped Duncan Lowery.

Strong performances from Andy Kelly (Doonhamer League) and Robbie McKenzie in the early rounds beating some good players secured well deserved semi final finishes in the competition. The final two players emerged as Scott Simpson (The Border League) and John Murray (Lockerbie League) with Scott taking and early two frame lead in the final session. John switched to a more tactical style levelling the match at three frames each. Both players had chances to win the final frame but John potted the crucial black to win the event.
