An excellent day of pool was had by all at Bowl 2000 on Saturday. Despite the appalling weather outside players came from far and wide to try and secure there places in the Scotland Team Trial.

The day began with some interesting preliminary ties, as Scotland under 21 player Scot Hector (Elgin) fell to Stuart Campbell (Lhanbryde) early doors. Alan Mair (Fochabers) gained sweet revenge over his conqueror at Keith last month, beating Richard Mackenzie (Burghead) 4 - 2.

All seeded players neatly traversed some sticky last 32 matches to reach the last 16 stage which produced the shock of the tournament as Alan Duncan (Elgin) found some form to beat the number 1 ranked player Peter Fyffe (Burghead) 4 - 0. Tony Mccallion also started to find some form at last and took out the number 2 ranked player Raymond Mackenzie (Lhanbryde) 4 - 1.

The last 8 saw some interesting matches between the tours top ranked players. Adam Wood (Lossie) was beaten by Neil Simpson (Elgin) 4 -1 and Alan Duncan continued to play well in dispatching Ben Royan (Burghead) 4 - 2. These two were joined in the semi final by Martin Hendry (Craigellachie) and Adam Macleod (Elgin).

The semis produced some good pool but were fairly comfortable victories for Neil Simpson and Adam Macleod respectively. Adam raced into a 2 - 0 lead but seemed to wilt as the match wore on, Neil used this to his advantage playing some excellent percentage shots at crucial times. This proved to be the difference and Neil proved a worthy winner of the final SEPF Region 4 tour event of 2010. Roll on next year!
