REGION 4 UPDATE
New SEPF Region 4 created
I am very pleased to announce the formulation of a new tour for pool players in the Highland and Moray regions, this will become the SEPF's fourth region in Scotland. After talking with fellow players from leagues in both regions it became clear that there were not enough local tournaments on offer for players in the area. I hope that the new tour can help meet this need and provide a solid platform to help grow the game in order to harness the obvious talent playing the leagues throughout the region.

Region 4 Tour will kick off with four events, details of which are on the SEPF website, which will provide players from region 4 with the chance to play in national and international competitions. However, the main principle remains the same, that the SEPF provides local tours for players in their own areas and does not expect players to play in qualifiers for tournaments held in other parts of Scotland.

The top 8 players after 4 Tour events will automatically qualify for the SEPF Scottish Singles held at Styx Pool Hall, Kirkcaldy. Players also can play in annual events like the Scottish Open, held in Aberdeen and the Scottish Masters, held in Kirkcaldy.

I would also like to announce a new annual national pool tournament to be held in Rileys Inverness, an excellent venue with 8 brand new tables installed in a designated pool competition area. I hope that the Highland Classic will become the showpiece event for our region and would urge all players to support this event and venue. Further details of this are available on the SEPF website.

The SEPF have also provided Region 4 with opportunities for affiliated leagues in the region to send teams to the SEPF Interleague. This allows leagues to send league select(s) to a national event and compete against other league selects. This 2010 event is to be held in Pettycur Bay, Fife. I am glad to say that the Elgin and District Pool League are taking up their full allocation of teams and will be sending 3 teams to the event. I hope that other leagues in the region will follow suit.

Finally I would like to thank our sponsors in the region - Bowl 2000 Elgin, PunctureSafe Highland and Rileys. They are doing a great job in helping to promote the 8ball pool in the North. Also, watch this space for our new junior tour...
